It is the first successful reattachment of a completely severed human arm. Dr. Ronald Malt, assisted by Drs. L. Henry Edmunds, John Hermann, and Robert Shaw, reattaches the arm of Everett Knowles of Somerville. The 12-year-old Little Leaguer had been injured attempting to hitch a ride on a freight car.
